Lakes Region Mental Health Center’s “28.2 Mile Walking Challenge”

May 1 - May 31

Mental Health America reports that nearly a third (28.2%) of adults with a mental illness are not able to receive the treatment they needed. This statistic motivates us here at LRMHC to work even harder in our efforts to de-stigmatize mental health challenges and minimize barriers to accessing mental health care.

We invite you, our community of supporters, to join our 28.2 Mile Walking Challenge. We’ll be walking, running, hiking, rolling, etc. to raise funds for our mission – to provide integrated mental & physical health care for people with mental illness while creating wellness and understanding in our communities.

Every mile you move and every dollar you raise will go directly towards better care for people with mental illness here in the Greater Lakes Region.

We all know the positive impact that moving your body can have on your mental health! Please join the Walking Challenge and start making a difference today!

Follow two simple steps to join our 28.2-mile Walking Challenge through Facebook Fundraiser:

  1. Follow this link: 28.2 Walking Challenge Fundraiser to automatically create a fundraiser through Facebook. We take care of all the details for you! Share to your Facebook page and encourage others to donate and/or participate!
  2. Join our 28.2 Mile Walking Challenge Facebook Group to connect with our community and learn more about Lakes Region Mental Health Center.

Q: When do I start fundraising?

A: As soon as you sign up! Start fundraising now to maximize your impact. Q: Where and when do I walk?

A: Wherever you’d like. Start recording your miles on May 1st. The challenge is live May 1st-31st.

Q: When and how do I log my miles?

A: Post mileage updates through our 28.2 Mile Walking Challenge Facebook Group. Connect with other members by sharing photos of your progress- please share stories about your connection to our cause!

Q: Can I do a different activity?

A: Feel free to participate in whatever way feels meaningful to you! Any activity you are able to do

counts towards the challenge.

Q: I don’t have a Facebook page. Can I still participate?

A: While there is no *official* way to participate without Facebook, we encourage you to get in those miles! Invite a family member for a walk, meet a friend at a local park, or pop on some roller skates; this challenge is about movement and connection. Of course, we are always accepting donations through PayPal. Please consider a contribution in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month!
