SUMMARY:This is My Brave New Hampshire 2021
DESCRIPTION:This Is My Brave provides the leading national platform for individuals to share their stories of living successful lives despite a diagnosis of a mental health disorder through artistic expression. The 2021 New Hampshire Cast shares their stories through poetry\, essay\, and expressive arts. \nDue to COVID-19\, our show this Spring will be taped before a small\, masked and socially distanced audience at the historic Phenix Hall  on Main Street in Concord\, NH.  And while masks are nothing new to individuals living with mental health conditions all of us often hide our pain behind the mask of a smile. This spring\, our storytellers are taking off their masks to share their mental health stories to shine a light on the hope that is recovery. \n\nWhile this event is free\, registration is required. When you register\, we hope you will consider a donation in support of our behavioral health educational programming to increase knowledge and reduce stigma.

SUMMARY:God Knows Where I Am
DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THE FILM\nThe body of a homeless woman is found in an abandoned New Hampshire farmhouse. Beside the body\, lies a diary that documents a journey of starvation and the loss of sanity\, but told with poignance\, beauty\, humor\, and spirituality. For nearly four months\, Linda Bishop\, a prisoner of her own mind\, survived on apples and rain water\, waiting for God to save her\, during one of the coldest winters on record. As her story unfolds from different perspectives\, including her own\, we learn about our systemic failure to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

SUMMARY:Discussions on Diversity and the (Added) Mental Health Impact of COVID
DESCRIPTION:As a country we strive for diversity\, equity\, and inclusion\, yet disparities and discrimination continue to be experienced by many and remain at the top of the news cycle. \nThe COVID-19 pandemic has coincided with an increase in hate crimes among Asian Americans\, rising race relation conflict\, and brought isolation to members of the LGBTQ community. \nPlease join us for a conversation with community leaders moderated by Rabbi Robin Nafshi (Bios below) to explore how we can encourage acceptance and understand.

SUMMARY:Orchestrating Change : Screening and Discussion
DESCRIPTION:ORCHESTRATING CHANGE is the documentary film that tells the inspiring story of Me2/Orchestra\, the only orchestra in the world created by and for people living with mental illness and those who support them. Co-founded by Ronald Braunstein\, once a world-renowned conductor whose career was shattered when his own diagnosis of bipolar disorder was made public\, the mission of the orchestra is to erase stigma one exhilarating concert at a time. As they rehearse\, perform and prepare for a major concert\, these extraordinary musicians have no idea how much the orchestra will change their lives in poignant and powerful ways. \nJoin us for a discussion with Me2/ Music Director\, Ronald Braunstein\, Executive Director\, Caroline Whiddon\, a Me2/ musician featured in the film and the two filmmakers. \nClick here to watch the Orchestrating Change preview. \nThis event is free\, but registration is required. All registrants will receive a private link to watch the documentary  that will be live three (3) days before the discussion. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Tethered by Light: A Group Exhibition Inspired by National Mental Health Awareness Month of May
DESCRIPTION:Tethered by Light: A group exhibition inspired by National Mental Health Awareness Month will be on view in the Carter Kelsey Lobby Gallery\, at the entrance of AVA Gallery and Art Center\, April 23 through June 4\, 2021. \n \nAVA Gallery and Art Center\, located at 11 Bank Street in Lebanon\, NH in collaboration with West Central Behavioral Health\, 9 Hanover Street in Lebanon\, NH\, is pleased to present\, Tethered by Light: A Group Exhibition Inspired by National Mental Health Awareness Month of May. As artists we create work inspired by our thoughts\, our dreams\, by what we see or feel. We spend much of our time alone in the studio\, alone in our head. Through our work we connect to others\, the connection is invisible and impermanent\, yet transcendent; we are tethered together by light. The exhibition is comprised of artwork depicting themes related to light\, spirit\, hope\, community\, isolation\, and Covid-19 imposed isolation. “There are various kinds of light that are available to us that we may need at times to stay tethered\, to know that we are tethered or to re-tether if we have lost our line.” – Jan Sandman\, artist
